About Us

The idea to establish Nursing Training College-seikwa was conceived by the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon. Johnson Aseidu Nketiah who happens to be a native of Seikwa. He was ably supported by the Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, the member of Parliament for the Tain Constituency. The establishment of the school was spurred by the fact that Tain District was lacking adequate number of health staff especially nurses. A combined but determined effort of the Tain District Assembly ,Seikwa Traditional Council and the Presbyterian church of Ghana-Seikwa operationalized the activities that led to the commencement of the school.
Upon recommendations after inspection by MOH and the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana, the school officially opened on 29th October 2011. Mr. Michael Yidana Mantamia was tasked with the responsibility to start the school as he was appointed as the first Acting Principal. The school took off with an initial academic staff of three (3) - Mr. Adama Sulemana, Mr. Owusu Adoma, and Mr. Simon Agongo Azure, subsequently the following were added: Miss Agnes Pielong, and Mr.Bosoma Asonkrawiri. They were supported by Kingsford Fordjour,
The Registered General Nursing Programme was then added on and commenced in the 2014/2015 academic year with the pioneers of the programme now in their final year yet to write their licensing examination.
